Replacing Schmidt with a big-time recruiter
From Eklund's blog last month on UW's inability to close on Jericho Johnson:
"For those wondering, while NIL will definitely play a factor for Johnson (the reality is, NIL plays a role with all of the recruits no matter their background or ranking), what will be an even bigger factor for him, probably the biggest, is his relationship with the staff and the man who would be his position coach. Courtney Morgan has done a lot of work to keep Washington in the mix, but from what I have heard, he feels like he has some stronger relationships with other coaches."
We've got too much recruiting deadweight on the staff (starting with Breckterfield).
Whether it's bringing back Malloe (who never should've been let go), DeBoer needs to make some serious upgrades in that area

Milloe only seemed recruit great every third year or so. I think UW may have gone two classes with only one DLine recruit at one point. There’s a reason him and Chip get along so well.Geevis_and_Butthead said:... seems like the wise path to take

He struggled early and then hit his stride. Probably would be an upgrade over the current staff. He has a lot of connections all over the west coast and is liked in general.theknowledge said:

NIL is probably the most important thing now anyways, but knowing ppl and have guys visit in the portal is a skill too. Not sure the current staff is excelling at that very well with the defensive line and edge. Still early this cycle but not great thus far. -
Have to figure out a way to improve the DL recruiting. Not pushing around the west coast powder puffs anymore. Corn fed muther fuckers from here on out.

Inoke has pulled guys from Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota. He's not really recruited the west coast since the mid 2000's. Bulabalavu will play inside and he's explosive, good get there. Dline recruiting requires a lot of long term projections when you're not a blue blood. Inoke has a track record of finding guys that outperform their rankings at OSU and Wisconsin. I'm actually more worried about the loss of Schmidt. Noah Carter is his dude and I hope UW can lock him up by 12/20. He's a beast.
