Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
Rewatched the game, took a walk by the lake
gained some perspective.
UW's defensive line won them the game. In the 4th quarter, when it mattered most, they won at the line of scrimmage. Heralded players like, er, checks roster, Voi Tunuufi were shedding a legitimately good Beaver OL and stuffing the run.
Oregon State is Beavlet for a reason, but that place was loud and looked really good on tv. Beav had won 17 of 18 at home and 9 in a row, including against Hall of Famer and best coach of all time Dan Lanning. It was an intense atmosphere with the rain, and the cuntry tuning in all probably thought it was two good teams playing physical football in a monsoon.
The defense is incredibly weird this year. There will be drives where the opposing RB will be pinballing off of DLs, LBs, and safeties and we look like an FCS team.
Then there are stretches of games were they physically bully some of the most physical teams in the country. Oregon State is GOOD on the lines. These guys ran on Oregon 30 times in a row in Reser last year and the Ducks couldn't stop them once. Washington went into Reser in a 37 and pouring hellscape and won the game with Penix throwing for a buck fifty.
My theory is the defense is really strong and well conditioned. Every single game this year they are better in the second half, particularly the 4th. Strong o-lines like OSU, Oregon, and Arizona are suddenly losing 1 on 1 matchups all over the place.
On that last drive, the TFL for -2 yards on first down won the game. Getting that offense behind on the sticks is absolutely critical. Tunuufi manhandles a guard and wraps Martinez's legs up, Goforth finishes him off.
Every single time the defense has to do something, they do it.
Winners win. This team will win the Apple Cup and CCG and go to the playoffs. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the Rose Bowl against a B1G team.

Nice to see Voi having a big game I've liked him well enough his whole career but he's definitely not been as effective as he was on Saturday. Play him across from Trice in ZTFs place so the QB can't just run away from the bull rush every play
