When I was in college one of my many part-time jobs was working at high end women’s retailer. For employee orientation we had to watch a series of god awful training videos. In one of them there was a middle age cis gender man (at least that’s what we assume) looking at some ladies lingerie. The salesperson innocently asks, “oh, can I help you find a gift for your special lady?” The man scowls and says, “well no, these are for myself.” The video instructed us to apologize and help the customer with whatever they need. Another video showed a customer throwing merchandise and shouting. Video instructed us to tell the customer to stop and that we should immediately call security.
That’s my long winded way of saying that poor clerk handled that situation pretty well. Being misgendered doesn’t give an individual the right to trash a store. -
