    "SEA ICE IS PROJECTED TO SHRINK IN BOTH THE ARCTIC & ANTARCTIC"... so professed the IPCC in their Fourth Assessment Report back in 2007.

    But since the prophecy - Antarctic sea ice has continued to expand; and expand rapidly.

    According to the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, currently the sea ice in the Antarctic is more than 1,500,000 sq km ABOVE ‘average’.

    The condescending little cocksucker is right. I'm no pinko white guilt commie. But The pace of shrinking or flat out elimination of glaciers in the Northern Hemisphere especially is shocking . Watch Chasing Ice sometime. Very well done and some incredible shots of shelf breaks.

    I'm not disagreeing that there are issues with ice volume, but your first graph is for Antarctic ice while your second is for Arctic ice, which are two different things. I'd be interested in finding out if the decreasing northern ice shelf is somewhat counterbalanced by an increasing southern ice shelf. Everyone always mentions the Arctic when they want a reaction for climate change/global warming/whatever the fuck you want to call it, but the Antarctic seems to be relatively ignored. I seriously doubt the Antarctic is increasing at a rate significant enough to counterbalance the rate of decay in the Arctic, but I couldn't find any legitimate graphs out there showing what Antarctic ice is doing. Even when I specifically searched for Antarctic graphs all it gave me were Arctic ones.
