McDuffie, ranked the No. 128 prospect in the country in the 247Sports Composite but No. 66 by 247Sports, chose the Huskies over Oregon, Stanford and USC.
“There were a lot of reasons why I picked Washington,” McDuffie said. “I had a great comfort level at the school when I visited and it aways just felt like home. I really clicked with the players and coaches and I know I’ll be developed there.
“I have a great relationship with Jimmy Lake (DB coach/co-DC) and I’m probably closer to him than any other coach that was recruiting me. He does an incredible job coaching his defensive backs and getting them to the League (NFL) and that’s definitely my goal as well.”
“He’s different than most coaches and evaluates differently. He’s not just looking at the player but the person and wants to make sure the guys he recruits are great people, OKGs (our kind of guys). I really believe in his Built For Life Program that’s about developing men of character, that all meant a lot to me.”
“I knew Washington was a good school academically but didn’t realize how good until my official visit,” McDuffie said. “They’re one of the top public universities in the country and you don’t have to sacrifice anything by choosing to go to Washington.
“I already have some strong built in friendships on the team too. Julius Irvin was my host and that’s my guy. He loves it there and I can trust him to give it to me straight. He told me how strong the locker room is, how everyone gets along well and there are no cliques there. No one feels like they’re better than anyone else and it’s just a great group of guys to be around. I definitely sensed that on my visits as well and I know I’ll fit in really well.”
"He's super gifted," Braves DC Chris King said. "We had a great defense, everyone on our defense is going to college and playing so to say Trent was our best player on that side is saying something. He's an incredible athlete, super fast and a really smart player. He did some things that you can't coach. Some of the plays he made, just always being around the ball, one handed interceptions where you're watching film and saying, 'how did he do that.'
"We could put him on one side of the field and know he's going to lock that side up. He can do anything, we blitzed him, he can play press, he played some nickel and no matter where we put him, he had a knack for making big plays. He has a super high football IQ and is a great kid as well and very coachable. The Washington coaches and Jimmy Lake are really going to love him up there."
Mater Dei five-star wide out Bru McCoy called McDuffie his toughest matchup all year and there is no doubt with continued development, he has a chance to be play and excel not just on Saturday's but on Sunday's as well. -
