Gordon's RS has been burned

Oh oh, looks like we better recruit a dB or two this year, and next year, and next year so we're prepared 5 years from now.
Christ. -
Would you rather have him leave after his redshirt sophomore season, or as a true Junior?
-
Although special teams has been dreck. Kyler Gordon and Dom Hampton have been 2 bright spots. Those guys absolutely fly down the field and are violent.
-
They probably just know he’s not playing 4 years here.
-
Irvin, Gordon, and Hampton seem like they will all be another incarnation of an NFL bound death row defense when the DB's cycle through.WilburHooksHands said:They probably just know he’s not playing 4 years here.

If he’s a guy who would stay five years, then he’s not starter caliber in our defensive backfield. Our corners are all four years or less kind of guys. It started with King and Jones, and Murphy and Miller are following suit. Pretty soon it’s going to be a revolving door of three-and-done players, of which Gordon could very well be part of.
-
Yup, no one is excited that Byron Murphy redshirted.WilburHooksHands said:They probably just know he’s not playing 4 years here.

No it hasn't. He's only played in 4 games.
-
Hot take: If he is good enough to leave early, no way he stays for five years anyways. And our depth at DB isn't actually that deep. There is quality, but limited quantity.
Just my opinion. -
Good

Precisely and what I've been telling u yards all along. Should have played Murphy as a frosh too.ZoneUW said:Hot take: If he is good enough to leave early, no way he stays for five years anyways. And our depth at DB isn't actually that deep. There is quality, but limited quantity.

Not a bad post for a newfish. Shit zone, you might be the only recruit ever to get invited to the HDB -

Ok, but play him in the Rose Bowl and it’s burned.HuskyClaws said:No it hasn't. He's only played in 4 games.
Are we assuming those guys played 4 and none of them are playing in the Rose Bowl? I think that’ll be telling as to who they think will be leaving early for nfl riches. -

Listed as playing in 5 games. I like seeing FR redshirt if they aren't going to get extended time throughout the year. Only playing in 5 games seems like a waste of RS to me. Just my opinion -
It is a waste of a redshirt. A redshirt that will never be needed.BeerThirty said:

Did I miss Jimmy Lakes lifetime contract announcement somewhere?
Good luck the rest of the way. -
The only two position groups that redshirts should always be used are O-line and D-line. Rarely are there exceptional athletes in the lines that won't need an extra year of development.GreenRiverGatorz said:

All the other position groups if you get to peak recruiting/development/production can be three and done with regularity. DB's are just the only position group we've gotten to that kind of peak. -

It hasn’t been burned and hopefully he doesn’t play in the Rose Bowl. It’s not worth it. Either play guys 9-12 games or let them play 4. Letting him play 5 is a total waste.
-
100% this. Playing 5 games of minimal special teams is less "he's too good to redshirt," and more "we don't have a plan."RoadDawg55 said:It hasn’t been burned and hopefully he doesn’t play in the Rose Bowl. Alabama starts 1 rs Sr on offense(Center) and 2 on defense(1 is a Transfer)
Clemson has 3 on O and 1 on D
Recruit better. Coach better. -
Top flight recruits would rather play special teams for 5 games than not at all. If this is what it takes to get them to come here then it's worth it.
-
Save RS for high talent productive players with injuries.
-
That Apple Cup loss really has broken you. Stay away from ropes, bridges, and bleach please. We still care about you.salemcoog said:Did I miss Jimmy Lakes lifetime contract announcement somewhere?

That’s a good point. I don’t have a problem with burning his redshirt, but if we were to do that, getting only five games of special teams out of his is a special kind of stupid.ExtraChrisB said:
