As usual, in defense of Blake Barnett. -
There was never a lot of hype. If speculating that he's better than Browning is "hype" then I guess so but that's a low bar. One interception doesn't mean the kid sucks. Browning could have easily thrown the same pick. He's thrown a million stupid picks or balls that should have been picked throughout his entire career. He threw another one just last week in the red zone as a Senior while Haener is just a Freshman. Petersen has stated time and time again that Haener has done some impressive stuff in practice which is why he had the confidence to throw him into the Cal game in the first place. Of course Eason will be the starter next season but it's way too soon to write off Haener in the QB competition post-Eason.
