Some Michigan fans get it

I wouldn't say it quite this way but I think this is mostly right. Hoke is a pretty poor coach. Look at his record. He wouldn't be our coach but for being a Carr disciple. Totally undeserving. And it shows. Next year we won't be in contention for the conference title. We're not close to being in contention with the buckeyes. Very sad. It's just a matter of time until Hoke is out. Just depends on how high it needs to go before reality sets in. Sad.

Hoke will be a perfect example of a guy who pulls in great recruiting classes, but won't do shit with them. Michigan has been killing it in recruiting since Hoke took over. It should be a reminder to doogs who are bitching about recruiting.

I used to watch recruiting like a hawk when Bellotti was the front man. He was a good, but not great coach and the more talent we had the less coaching would be a factor.RoadDawg55 said:Hoke will be a perfect example of a guy who pulls in great recruiting classes, but won't do shit with them. When Chip took over I stopped worrying about recruiting. It didn't matter who he brought in. They were developed and demanded to play a certain way and it they didn't they were gone. Now with Slingblade back in there I'm finding myself checking the commit list pretty often because we are back to M4DuxFS and CheswickFR blaming players which means the coaching is shit.
Ohio State is serious about football, Michigan is serious about Bo Schembechler. Bo's dead and their program is on the same path.

So we're agreeing that Carr:Hoke :: Carroll:Sark?

Michigan lost their identity for a bit ... Rich Rod just was a bad fit for their program. They are still paying for it.
Hoke doesn't look like he's the answer ... but he's going to leave a nice foundation for the next guy. -
Are you trying to tell us we have no idea the damage Rich Rod did to the Michigan program?Tequilla said:Michigan lost their identity for a bit ... Rich Rod just was a bad fit for their program. They are still paying for it.

Cute theory, they won 11 games with the group Rich Rod left behind. Now they are shit. Rich Rod was actually building something from scratch. Hoke is destroying something.Tequilla said:Michigan lost their identity for a bit ... Rich Rod just was a bad fit for their program. They are still paying for it.

No offense, I'm not sure you understand how analogies work... Regardless, yes, Carroll > Carr.dnc said:

Rich Rod never fit the culture, or he could have been dangerous.Mosster47 said:

It looks like the players quit on him. -
What I'm saying about Rich Rod is that from a fit standpoint, he was a terrible fit at Michigan. Nothing short of winning a national championship was going to be enough ... and that wasn't happening with what he was doing.
IMO, Michigan is in a tough spot right now as they have a lot of upper class players that were brought in for Rich Rod's system but the impression that I get is that Michigan wants to run more of a pro style spread instead of a read option spread.
Watching Michigan last night, it's very clear that they are poorly coached - particularly defensively. I think it's fair to say that Hoke isn't the answer there. Are they ready to make a change this year? Probably not. Will they most likely be disappointed next year? Good chance.
But IMO, yes, I do think that Michigan is still paying right now for their hiring of Rich Rod ... it was a bad move when they made it. It was a square peg round hole kind of hire.
