Seems odd. He hasn't missed a ton of games and I'd assume hes likely to get drafted. Its also not exactly a position of need. Taylor looks fine. Might as well try though

This makes no sense. For the medical hardship waiver you can't have played in more than 1/3 of the games plus one.
Miller started the first 8 games.
Last year he got injured after 7 -

To get a 6th year is at the discretion if the NCAA but generally you have to have missed most or all of two seasons for reasons outside your control.
So if Eason got injured again in the next two years and didn't go to the NFL then he could try for a sixth year. -
