"Haener's got thousands of snaps in practice". That's wonderful Pete but you couldn't bother to properly prepare a backup QB with actual productive game snaps?
It's very similar to his comments on Peyton Henry after he gagged the game winning kick. It's almost like our top 5 coach doesn't understand that practice is different from live bullets.

Pete’s presser was a bunch of coach speak BS. He can’t seriously be that thick.

1) I guarantee that Pete falls in the practice as you play mindset ... not saying that I 100% agree with him as I do agree that pressure is real. That being said, if you know you can do the job and do it repeatedly in practice the odds of doing so when the lights go on increases substantially.
2) Pete’s comments on Browning after being asked if he thought he had improved between Jr and Sr year were pretty telling
3) There was a lot of reading between the lines in this presser -
And the odds of being able to do it when called on are substantially increased again if you have previously been exposed to pressure in lower leverage situations. Why did Haener sit until the last quarter against ND? Why didn't Haener get meaningful snaps against BYU? Why not some first half series against UCLA? No, you save him for a win or lose situation in his first meaningful appearance. I'm starting to wonder if there is shit going on in Petersen's personal life because he is just not at the races this year.
