Master of PuppetsBattery is a close 2nd
-
The Call of Ktulu w/Harvester of Sorrow a very close 2nd
-
SanitariumLot of abundance in that last
-
For Whom the Bell TollsIt's Creeping Death. No Creeping Death, no Master of Puppets. Its the same structure and formula, apparently wasn't an option though.
-
Master of PuppetsIt's Master. The Magnum Opus for Metallica. Battery is next. Then Sanitarium. RIP Cliff.

For Whom the Bell TollsWhile I won't deny there are better songs composition-ally For Whom the Bell Tolls never fails to give me a half-chub. Even as I type this, I can hear the intro in my head and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Fuck. This is like my 2nd favorite Metallica song after One, but And Justice For All is my favorite Metallica album by far.Mad_Son said:

Master of PuppetsMaster of Puppets
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Ride the Lightning
The Thing That Should Not Be
Many others.
Not a big fan of any of the ballads aside from Sanitarium and that includes One. I mean they're good, but not at the level of their best stuff for me.
Master is on another level...just an epic creation that metal heads and non (like me) can all appreciate. It's on the short list of GOAT rock songs. -
Enter SandmanI listened to this before everyone of my high school football games.
But definitely overplayed -
Trick question?
They don't have one -

Creeping Death
Unreal song live - the chanting of "Die!!! Die!!! Die!!!" as the crowd seethes and the pit goes wild is like nothing else.
I gotta give Ride the Lightning top album standing, too. -
Master of Puppetshttps://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/readers-poll-the-greatest-heavy-metal-albums-of-all-time-11373/1-metallica-master-of-puppets-2-208715/
Even Rolling Stone knows Master of Puppets isn't just Metallica's greatest album, it's the greatest metal album of all time. The first time I heard Master I didn;t even know what the fuck was going on. Remember, it was 1985. Nothing like that had ever been done, so fast, so hard, so intricate. Wall of sound indeed. I so wish Cliff would have lived because they just kept getting better with him as their spiritual center...then he died, and Justice dropped off a bit, then the Black album dropped off quite a bit, and then they fell off a fucking cliff (lulz). Master is what all other metal albums are contrasted against. -

And a Justice For All was the album when I was in Middle School. And all the Fast Strategy Kids had AJFA shirts and flannel. I was too Slow Strategy and didn't get heavier than Led Zeppelin II at the tim.Swaye said:https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/readers-poll-the-greatest-heavy-metal-albums-of-all-time-11373/1-metallica-master-of-puppets-2-208715/

For Whom the Bell Tolls
Yeah, it's a bit like wondering if Don James hadn't been fucked over what could have been. The drop off after Cliff died is so readily apparent and part of why, in my mind at least, Metal stayed in a niche category.Swaye said:https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/readers-poll-the-greatest-heavy-metal-albums-of-all-time-11373/1-metallica-master-of-puppets-2-208715/
