The win over Utah provided a much needed boost to the probabilities of a "successful" season. While the prospect of an undefeated season is obviously long gone the possibility of going undefeated in Pac12 play was significantly increased with a win over Utah. A 10-2 overall record with an 8-1 conference record is now the most likely outcome for the season with likelihoods of 34.5% and 35% respectively. The likelihood of doing this well or better has now become greater than 50% for our Dwags with the given expected win probabilities.

It means that winning at Utah was important even if they turn out to be a shit team. If all it did was remove one game from the schedule that still means that it's much easier to go 8-0 than 9-0 statistically speaking.
