Although the Latino community features a lot of vocal and organized activists on the left, it's clearly not a monolithic community. Many Latinos are conservative or share Trump's views on illegal immigration. And that makes sense: many registered Latino voters are naturalized citizens who followed the rules, and so they're more likely to view illegal immigrants as line cutters. Also, many Cuban Americans supported Trump because of his opposition to normalizing relations with Cuba. Many Latino voters just don't turn out (from the NYT article above: "In 2012, with immigration reform on the line, more than 12 million Latino voters stayed home, producing a turnout rate of 48 percent compared with 64 percent for whites and 67 percent for blacks.").
