The kickoff of the Gamechangers Bracket brings us arguably the biggest game changer in taking Country music to the masses via crossover appeal in Garth Brooks vs The Judds who changed the game by being a mother/daughter group that dominated the 80s.

What needs to be said about Garth? His cross over the mainstream music changed the Country landscape. He blows everybody away in terms of awards and album sales and that's with taking a 15-year retirement period. When he tours he blows everybody away not only with the quality of his shows, but also the amount that he plays. If I recall right last year when he played at the Tacoma Dome, he played 9 shows in 5 days … that's insane for a top end artist.

An absolute game changer for the industry with the Mother/Daughter angle. While their longevity wasn't particularly lengthy their awards, accomplishments, and legacy on the industry and in particular for groups going forward is unquestioned.

Garth BrooksThere are plenty of legitimate reasons to hate Garth, but when it comes down to it dude has the best songs. Gay that he didn't write them but that's country music for you. He's not my winner for the tourney but he should win this bracket rather easily.
