Good. These mandarins think they play be separate rules.

Just like Alex Jones. This is free pub for her. And you guys are playing into it.
-
Well, if true, that's not a good look. A free and open press is on of the many things that has made this country a more desirable place to live than the "vulnerable" immigrant community's birth nations.
-
I'm not a fan of her in any way. But aren't there a lot of meetings and such that both Democrats and Republican have where the press isn't invited?YellowSnow said:Well, if true, that's not a good look. They dont call it the enemy of the people for nothing

Ah, so establishment polticians doing closed conference calls and private fundraising dinners with their donors is fine but keeping press out of a town hall with constituents is suddenly a threat to the 1st amendment.

Hugely different than Alex Jones situation.2001400ex said:Just like Alex Jones. This is free pub for her. And you guys are playing into it.

Ok then fundraisers and conference calls with wealthy donors should be public or provide transcripts to reporters.GrundleStiltzkin said:

It was billed as a townhall event, not a private event. The reasons she gave for excluding the press were complete horseshit.HardlyClothed said:

There was an illegal immigrant from our state that was targeted by ICE and deported just because he spoke to the press if I recallGrundleStiltzkin said:

Of course barring the press from public events isn't popular at first, no progressive idea is popular at first. But as the public learns more about banning the press it will get more popularity and eventually the majority will want it. This is how the process works.
Ocasio is a trendsetter. -
Ah so people who live and work in her district, many of them for decades, and who are directly impacted by her proposed policies are not her constituents and should not be allowed access to her.dnc said:

Maybe we should only allow uber wealthy immigrants to provide input into our politics. Rupert Murdoch perhaps. He’s been such a positive influence on our political system in his time here. -

You're the one who brought up how she should be able to meet with her constituents in this thread. Multiple times. I agree.
Then you brought up how the presence of the press can be a threat to illegal immigrants. Which may well be true.
But by definition illegal immigrants are not her constituents, unless you're arguing that they vote anyway, which would be a very off brand argument for you. -
I believe her constituents are everyone who lives in her district whether they vote or not, and everyone whether they’re legal immigrants or not. They are impacted by politics regardless and should be able to talk to the politicians that make policy decisions.dnc said:
