What is the Mackey award? Worst production to skill ratio?
-
It's an awful year for tight ends.

Blame sark, not ASJ.MikeDamone said:What is the Mackey award? Worst production to skill ratio?

this is about like the year Ty's Stanford team won the Pac-10 and went to the Rose Bowl. This must have been one of the worst years ever for TE's if ASJ won it.

I never blame the kids.Passion said:

Further proof that hype >> results in CFB
-
Imagine if he gave a shit
-
He wasn't even the best TE in the PAC 12
-
I do... That's why I gave ASJ credit for the skill. Get it?Passion said:

Sark will be telling everyone how he developed ASJ into a Mackey winner no doubt.
-
ASJ is gone if he's getting press like this... unless he suddenly grows a self aware pair and realizes he's got more to learn before he goes to the league
-
Lol so Kadeem Carey beats out Bishop Sankey for P12 offensive player of the year even though he lost to him in every stat and ASJ wins the Mackey award because he was a pre season favorite? I didn't follow Tight Ends closely this year in college football but no way he could have been the best.

Winning as a team > individual awards
-
The award goes to the player who, the award website says, "best exemplifies the play, sportsmanship, academics, and community values of NFL Hall of Fame Tight End John Mackey." The winner was determined by the Mackey Award selection committee...Seferian-Jenkins has had some off-field issues; he pleaded guilty in July to a drunken-driving charge and was sentenced to 364 days in jail, with 363 of those days suspended. He was suspended for the Huskies' opener against Boise State...Past winners of the Mackey, which has been awarded since 2000, include Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert last season, Florida's Aaron Hernandez in 2009, UCLA's Marcedes Lewis in 2005 and Iowa's Dallas Clark in 2002.
Lol. -
I'm surprised...... and certain that it (seriously) was ASJ's improved blocking and the two great catches in the apple cup that did it.IrishDawg22 said:WTF.

If the Mackey Award ever had any credibility, it just lost it. ASJ is a soft, under-achiever who couldn't even win his own conference's spot in the first team.
-
If ASJ stays, Petersen might be exactly what he needs for a personal transformation... If he's willing to undergo one.
-
TTU tight end... 1300 yards receiving on 100 catches. 7 tds as a freshman. Da Fuq.
-
are you saying Sark is to blame for sponsoring a party with alcohol(allegedly)? or for letting his star TE leave the party drunk to drive away with chicks in the car(allegedly)? or for something else?Passion said:

I might be wrong but I think you have to be on the pre season watch list to win.JuicyHawgCoog said:TTU tight end... 1300 yards receiving on 100 catches. 7 tds as a freshman. Da Fuq.

Anybody else notice ASJ (1) hired a prominent Coug to defend his DUI charge and (2) was the first to take joyfully to the twatters when Sark resigned? I don't think ASJ's eventful offseason did much to boost his loyalty to the cooldudebrah.
-
Does Pablo Escobar still play for the Aztecs?
-
Congrats to ASJ. This award must have been given 11 months ago, and they already engraved it before the DUI and the season. Must be the first time a best in nation award was given to a second team All PAC 12 player.
ASJ was overweight most of the season and out of shape in the early part. A few clutch catches, and a few key drops.
But he was a darn good blocker, I will give him that. He kept Price alive this year. Maybe the award is for that....
-
Award was for last year, lifetime achievement, whichever the fuck.
-
Texas Tech's TE was without a doubt the best TE in the nation.
-
Still soft. A year with Petersen will do him good but he will leave.
-
Agree, he's NFL either way. The key is can he have a career or be a flash in the pan?DerekJohnson said:If ASJ stays, Petersen might be exactly what he needs for a personal transformation... If he's willing to undergo one.
If he leaves now I'm afraid he'll have an NFL career like Jerammy Stevens where he is a wash out.
With Petersen, perhaps he can guide him to see the light. Become this kick ass TE that we all know he's capable of. Having him finally meet his potential so when he goes to the NFL he is actually ready.
