Another socialism success story.

They just need more time to get their own commies in there.

Question. What's your fascination with Venezuela?
-
Thanks Soros

That's a fair question and I'm going to assume you sincerely want a thoughtful answer. Money there is now worth nothing. The idea that Venezuela has basically become a barter economy has my deep sympathy. It sounds like a hell-on-earth type of situation.2001400ex said:Question. What's your fascination with Venezuela?

If only Hondo could have gotten his socialists in there!DerekJohnson said:

Yes I was sincerely asking. I do chuckle at how people take it as a model that liberals in America want to follow. Then ignore the places that are capitalistic, like India, that are awful as well, just for different reasons.DerekJohnson said:

I feel sorry for the folks who didn't vote Venezuelan socialists into office. They never deserved that. To those that did, I would give them Sven's twenty and say, this is the result of your own ignorance. You should have done your due diligence, picked up a history book on socialism and discover what happens when you embrace the philosophy of envy & failure.DerekJohnson said:

And underlining the tragic and completely avoidable of the situation, Venezuela is or was a massive oil producer.DerekJohnson said:

Socialism doesn't fucking work. It just doesn't and never will. When people know the government is going to seize most of their shit and re-distribute it if they become successful, there's no incentive for anyone to be successful, and everyone becomes a failure.

Yes. While a few big cities have American money flowing in. Overall people are just as poor as Venezuela. I can list other free market countries that are just as fucked.DerekJohnson said:

They have areas where poverty is worse than Venezuela. But it's comparing apples to mangoes. India is positioned to do some big things in the years ahead.2001400ex said:

Nice use of the word mangos. When I was in India, we were given "fresh" mangos, said the were yummy. There's so much pollution, they literally tasted like smog smells.DerekJohnson said:

Socialism is awful, no one* wants a truly socialistic society. But the point is, a truly free market isn't any better. Just a different method of achieving the same result.
*You know what no one means. Yes you might find a couple people who have zero power that want a socialism. So go fuck yourself. -

A socialist would say Bernie is not a socialist. I don't agree with his free college deal. But I do agree with Medicare for all. That's still not socialism.GrundleStiltzkin said:

I don't mind the free education stuff either but I would want it to be the same way Germany runs the program. If you're a shit student or you're just not very smart you don't go to college, as it should be. Why send someone with no interest in learning or that lacks the capacity to learn to a place of higher learning? A 5'7" 165lb white kid with a 6 second 40 isn't invited to The Opening. There are acquisition contracts going on right now in all the service branches that will be cancelled and we will never get anything out of that could cover health care for all of America. The plot line being sold to you that we can't afford healthcare is 100% false. It would be a drop in the bucket. -
