Given what has transpired with Vizcaino and all, I can't criticize Pete for throwing an offer to a good kicker.

Scholarships are a waste on kickers. So many don't pan out that it seems like bringing in 3 walk-ons every year until you find the right kicker would be a better option.
You can't accurately scout a kicker on film or even really in person. Some of these high school teams don't even have a consistent snapper.
College coaches basically go off what Chris Sailer's rankings. -
