Has an offer from Illinois, so this visit is just academis.

All this Illinois talk makes me pine for the halcyon days of @allcryinallillini
-
I think he will commit to Colorado. He's visited Boulder more than once, and his dad is an alum. I could be wrong, but it's just my prediction.
-
I'm a big fan of this dude, but we haven't offered him yet. Probably not a priority target, and he has a lot of offers already, but you never know.
-
so what about a class of Fabiculanan, Criddell, Trent McDuffie and Toler on the secondary? -
I like the terorist hash tag, he must read the boardsBlastDoor said:

Plans on having officials done this summer and wants to commit before the season starts.
Knows of 3 he will take visits to: Colorado, the dreaded Illinois, and UW. Seems like UW wants really likes him.
"I would say that the school pushing the hardest right now is Washington. I have been hearing a lot from coach Will Harris and coach Jimmy Lake, and I know that if I went there, I would be learning from the best. They are real knowledgeable." -
Bosco is stacked right now with this kid being the afterthought on their team with Steele, McDuffie, Wolfe, and Uiagalelei.
Wouldn't mind turning it into a nice little pipeline. -
Not enough fast strategy
-
Why would we want a kid that wants to “learn from the best.” Seems like such a liability. He’s much too humble for us. These are kids that ruin your culture. You can’t win with these kids. What on earth are Petersen and Lake thinking!?! It’s not like they have a track record of developing talent that is willing to learn and put in the work.DoogCourics said:Plans on having officials done this summer and wants to commit before the season starts.

No - he's better than Putney, but I'm not a big fan. I see him as not outstanding on tape or physically. So... yeah. Plus I hate people named Titus.HUSKYFANATIC said:

He tested at 5-11.5, 177, 4.57, 4.29 shuttle, 39.5pb and 37.0 vert.NorwegianHusky said:

Those are really good numbers, but not sure 'tall' and 'fast as fuck' come to mind.
His film is not amazing. It doesn't surprise me that our main competitors are Colorado and the dreaded Illinois. -

I think this brings up a conversation that is often overlooked here. Despite some of the notable recruiting flaws that we've all brought to light in our discussions here, the one aspect of the evaluation process that we've done very well at is specifically identifying talent that hasn't reached their ceiling, specifically defensive backs.Dennis_DeYoung said:

The obvious names are Sid Jones, Jordan Miller, Rapp and Dom. Sure, when you watch film often times guys like Toler don't blow your mind however I think its premature to completely rule them out as potential high upside guys just based on HS tape. Petersen and Lake agree because rarely do they offer solely on film. They like to see guys in person.
The point is there are a number of factors that come into play. High school scheme. Was he put in positions to succeed or did the HS coach drop the ball a bit and play him out of position? Family/genetics. Is his dad 6'4 and he hasn't hit his growth spurt yet? Coachablilty. You can't determine how coachable a kid is based on highlight film imo. Do his teammates look up to him? Love of the game. Is he playing because he really loves it or just because he's good at it? These are all important. You need raw, physical talent but you also need the drive to be great. You can't determine that based on HS film imo.
I know DDY and Coker base their evaluations entirely on HS tape and of course you can gauge a lot about a prospect based on this evaluation. I'd say that's 75% of it..High school production. There's that other 25% that our staff clearly has a proprierty model they factor into the evaluation and that's also why often they aren't on the same page as the TBS sites. -
No, our success at the DB positon group is due to Lake's ability to identify talent and to close his top targets. We are not settling for raw developmental projects.pat_hm said:

Budda- elite.
Syd- underlooked by recruiting services but elite stud that was ready to go Day 1.
Byron Murphy- elite.
Taylor Rapp- underlooked by recruiting services but was obviously elite.
Taylor, Irvin, Gordon- elite.
Jojo- he is what he is, strengths and weaknesses, I doubt we would be taking him in 2019.
The one raw guy that we developed is Jordan Miller. Thats it.
Then there is Dom Hampton where he looked raw as a junior but it turned out we were just the first on him as he was blowing up.

The year before I didn’t like Kent Love at first either. If I see senior film and go “holy shit!” like I did with Dom and KL I will happily change my tune.WeakarmCobra said:

He’s a DDY2 right now. He could be good. Good measeuables and okay tape.
It could be that our coaches are being told he’s a super stud that just hasn’t put it all together... I dunno.
Colorado and us isn’t a great sign, but I will LIPO. -

I love Sid, but he got burned quite a few times his freshman year. I wouldn’t say he was ready to go as much as we simply had nobody else.FremontTroll said:

It’s a reason to be hopeful with Molden and Taylor. Both sucked when they played last year, but they weren’t allowed to go through growing pains like Sid and Budda were because there were no other options. -
No you accused me of hating black kids. Which is funny coming from a guy who’s handle is based on the whitest neighborhood in Seattle. I’ve been very clear about my aversion to “me first” players. Ego guys. Guys who’s only goal is 3 years in college to make the league. Oregon loves these guys. I don’t think they help win football games. Chris Petersen agrees. Ideally you find the best athletes with the best mindsets. Budda is the definition of this. I’ll take the guy that wants to learn over the kid who thinks he’s Deion Sanders and knows everything. Which is why I brought up other factors besides film. But you accused me of being racist when you know nothing about me man. Enjoy living in Fremont.FremontTroll said:

I specifically asked for no racist crap.
