Context, dude. This one isn't funny because of his rating. It's funny because of the timing. If you're gonna offer a 4-star kid from Texas, maybe you shouldn't do it in is senior year when he already has 38 self-reported offers, including Bama, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and I could keep going. Actually, a few more things, as to why this is hilarious bordering on incomptence:
1. There are four stars in Cali. Shit, we have every advantage to land a five star talent in Joe Ngata, maybe we shouldn't take that one for granted and make sure we land him before we start dicking around in Texas? Maybe let's keep building the relationships with Delgado and Markham? Let's maybe make an effort for McCoy?
2. How the fuck do we stand out in this situation? What's the plan here? You don't just walk up to a super model you never met before, right past her boyfriend, make some comment about the weather and then pull your dick out.
3. Aren't we supposed to be selective with our offers? Cali recruits might think we are, local recruits might think we are (and that we hate them), but Texas recruits haven't ever heard that shit. You think this kid is gonna be wowed that he got a Washington offer? That shit is going straight in the UTSA/SMU/Tulsa pile. How can you call yourself selective with offers when you throw shit at the wall just to see if something sticks? This offer is EXACTLY like our hopeless buck offers in the south. -
