Much like when the U.S. helped drive the USSR out of Afghanistan

It might take a while to know if we won or lost the war...

    Petersen > Helfrich

Petersen > Shaw (probably, but I love Derek Mason)

Petersen and Riley are similar but Petersen has UW's roster, facilities, and assets.

    Petersen > Dykes

    Petersen > Leach

Too early to say Petersen > Shaw. I'm comfortable ranking Petersen over the rest of the HC's in the north, and all of them in the couch besides Mora and Graham.

He's somewhere in the top third of coaches in the conference, with a non zero chance of being the best.

Been a long time since we could say that.

    Riley isn't that good.

I think Riley is a good coach but Petersen is obviously better.

You have a much higher regard for Shaw than I. Eventually Harbaugh's leftovers are gonna run out.

My point being by starting this thread...sometime it takes a awhile to determine the unintended consequences of an action. Sometimes you can feel like a war was won, next thing you know, USC is flying planes into the graves building.

    EXCELLENT POINT

And that's not a knock on Peterson or the hiring. But I'm still nervous about past Boise coaches.

Having said that, the record speaks for itself and the more I read about Peterson the more I like him.
1 - Organization and detail freak
    2 - Discipline freak
    3 - Always studying
    4 - "gym rat"

I am more excited about this hire than I've been about ANYONE since DJ.

We'll know soon. I actually expect we'll have a good idea by the end of year 1 but certainly, as I've always said, you can judge any coach by the first three years.

It might take a while to know if we won or lost the war...

So there won't be a picture on the internet of him in a bill beanie and a shoots brah shirt? I guess that's a win right there.

You know that made me laugh but there is a large measure of importance to that.

What fucking recruit / fan / coach / reporter / ... without being a total turd could look at that without thinking he was the fucking moron we all learned to hate?
