Jack White is more talented than all of them, but Appetite trumps talent.

Agree completely. Here's where I struggle with GNR: Appetite has always been one a my favorite rock records (it's top 5 of the 80's easy). It was the album I listened to the first time I smoked dem tweeds. But fuck for them in the face for only making one great record. Illusions I and II were a big, bloated, hot mess. Those 2 records are so underwhelming. Strips had 2 classic albums and 2 or 3 more really great ones and Jack White is the shit, especially when you factor in his overall body of work.

Two flash in the pan acts. I vote for Muse.

I might vote for Jack White's entire body of work over GnR but no chance for TWS.

Actually fuck it, I'm taking GnR anyway.

When you are flat out the best band in the world for a stretch (even just two or three years) you're going to be tough to beat for me (ergo Nirvana). Greatness > Longevity

I tend to be a liberal in terms of what "White Stripes" constitutes. Jack White and White Stripes are interchangeable in my book but that's just one man's opinion. I seeded GNR as high as I did because they were basically the biggest rock act in the world from 1987-91. Again, fuck them for having shitty sophomore albums. Nothing is worse than wasted talent.

If I could go back in time and kill someone Axle wouldn't be above Hitler on my list but he wouldn't be that far behind either. Hypothetical of course, not a call for death.

White Stripes are the most fucking overrated group of the 2000's.

If you like the White Stripes... then you should probably listen to Jet. As their "homage" to them is better than anything they've ever done.

I liked some White Stripes songs but this was a battle of the voices for me. Axl's is a bad ass primal scream. White sounds like he's about to break down screaming and crying most of the time.

One great record is a more substantial contribution than 50 minor ones.

Is one 5 star recruit worth more than four 4 stars?

Nirvana should kill GNR in the next round IMO but the one album wonder love here is strong.
