In America - not to get too weird - there is a "seemingly" massive distinction between being poor white trash and a "ghetto" black kid.
The truth is, fast strategy people have a lot of the same priorities and ideas - even though in the US we don't share the same culture across 'race' lines.
However, the smart coaches that saw beyond that shit were like, 'wait, I completely relate to these kids'. If you watch Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer at their height it was the same thing.
They instinctively knew the shit that would hit home, once they translated it from one cultural context to another.
That's the reason Dabo hits. Because he has that instinct. He knows. He's a FS fucker and he gets the core aspects to those kids.
Tom Osborne, Pete, DJ, etc - they have a hard time, so it's easy for them to get a bunch of criminals, because to them, all FS kids seem the same. 'I don't know, I guess they all are drug dealing gun-runners. Fine, I want to win. Beating women is a cultural difference, I guess!'
But, Coaches like Johnson really got it. 'We are the underdogs that NOGAF about. No one did our homework for us or petitioned our fucking teachers when we got an 88.5 so we could stretch that to an A' - that's all white people shit.
They get that.
If Pete could grasp that, we would be the best program in the history of the Pac-12.
The only other choice is to be so fucking competitive you don't GAF (Saban) about anything other than winning, or just a good coach at USC which is the easiest job in the history of college football (Carroll).
You guys could certainly win a Natty at some time. But you don't have the infrastructure nor the sizzle to make a 2000's SC run. Not without Pilfering the likes of a Meyer or Saban anyway.
Pete is a master at making teams difficult to beat. And that's with b-rate talent. If somehow we get talent throughout our whole roster we are going to be a bitch to deal with.
But, I'm not sure Pete has it in him. -
I don't get it.Dennis_DeYoung said:So, doing the math for you losers:

Only a crazy person would want Pete fired. I love Pete. I just want him to keep adjusting his strategy and re-evaluating his biases.WeakarmCobra said:

If we had a QB worth a shit we wouldn’t have lost a game last year until the P12 championship. But the fact is, Pete has chosen to play that try-hard POS because he’s in Pete’s comfort zone.
Pete should’ve benched Jake during the ASU game. If Jake is too mentally fragile (spoiler: he is) to deal with that, then fuck it. We all know Pete would never have the stones to pull Jake after a shorty half in a big time game like Saban did.
I think one reason Pete talks so much about people needing to get out of their comfort zones is that he finds it so hard to get out of his.
I think he’s trying, but the default settings run most of the time and Pete’s default is to love up on the slow strategy practice players. -
So the median household income for Yuba City, CA, is like $32K. You'd think Pete would be a bit more PWT Fast Strategy.

I took people's homes in Yuba City
Didn't want to but felt I owed it to them

Just to make this clear: Life History strategy is about two types of resources: physical and emotional.YellowSnow said:So the median household income for Yuba City, CA, is like $32K. You'd think Pete would be a bit more PWT Fast Strategy.
If your mom had good nutrition and was not stressed when she was pregnant and if your parents provided for your emotionally and physically in your first 5-6 years, you are going to be slow strategy.
Also, if you are an older sibling you are more likely to be slow (womb quality declines as # of births increase).
I think Pete is the oldest child of a two-parents household with a stable income. That is almost always going to result in SS kids.
Almost all (not all, I take pity of the SS people) my friends are FS. This is how it happened:
1. Poor white kid from GA whose dad got laid off because he had a disease during his mom's pregnancy. Dirt poor. Moved to Sumner and lived in a trailer.
2. Third child born to poor black people in South Dallas in 1970. Dad was an alcoholic and gambler who was cheating on mom. Also, Dallas was still de facto segregated.
3. Poor black kid, mom was abandoned during pregnancy by dad in NYC. They were homeless and had to live with grandparents and relatives during first 6-7 years of his life (this guy went to Harvard, btw).
4. I was adopted, bio-mom a heroin addict who got dumped by her rock-n-roll boyfriend in NYC. Moved to Ellensburg to be with her big bro and kick during pregnancy. She died of AIDS in SF in the late 80s from sharing needles. My dad is FS and FS men especially hate adopted kids when they are broke and that's what we were.
But it doesn't always have to be so dramatic... another friend, FS: mom was in grad school during pregnancy going through quals, 3rd kid. -
Just out of curiosity is there a study or book you can recommend on developmental strategies?Dennis_DeYoung said:

I've been binge watching trailer parks boys lately, and was thinking of trailer park FS living in Yuba City. Admittedly, I don't know Pete's bio pre Davis, but would have guessed him to be slow strategy.Dennis_DeYoung said:

I had a slow strategy life all planned out despite being a third child. I had two college educated parents and never gave a thought about food or shelter.
Then my folks got divorced when I was 15 throwing my slow strategy out the window and turning me into an angry fast strategy Type A asshole. Threw all my plans out and got high instead -
