Seattle Times' Matt Caulkins is a disgrace to journalism (Here's why)

But the column was about the economic crisis in Venezuela, which interests me.
I only got one sentence into the article before I quit reading.
Caulkins said he wanted to approach Felix Hernandez and ask him about the situation in his homeland. But he was afraid to ask him because it might offend him.

The young j-school grad fresh out of college writes for the newspapers now.
The smarter grads are already producing content for the interwebs before they graduate, IF they graduate, if they ever go to college at all. Internet Content. In 2018, these are the only people that can make a living writing about sports.
What the newspapers are left with is a generation of bland writers and the generation of people who still read newspapers (OLD fucks) -

To be fair, the Caulkins column wasn't any worse than the Styx fan's "editorial" on UW's coaches and recruiting the inner city (LOL, this is Seattle we're talking about).
