Are you satisfied with the Petersen hire?

Absolutely yesThe only wholes to fill are the lines which are in terrible shape.
BCS game in three years is acceptable. As the groupies here say, "Anything less ass out." -
Yes, but there's a limit to my patienceI didn't know he was 92 and 12. That's very impressive no matter the level. He needs to have some 7-2, 8-1 type seasons in the first two yrs. though.

Absolutely yesHe almost beat DeRuyter as Fresno this year with probably his shittiest team while at BSU. Sark would have won 3 or 4 games in that conference with that team it was so awful.
The Sark plunger makes me a little nervous but Steve knew he had to win that game. First game brand new stadium, have a defense advantage with Wilcox knowing Petersen inside and out, against one of their worst teams in a long time. -

The Disciplinarian Chris Petersen:

Chris is walking into a better situation than the first 2 guys. So we should expect to win.
I'd rather have had a hire who proved himself at 2 different schools first. Urban Meyer...Bryan Kelly are 2 recent examples of what I'm talking about.
What is interesting about those numbers is that Chris, I feel I can cal hi Chris now, won 40 more games than Hawk, and 70 more games than Dirk with the same number of losses. I think that is a major difference. Longevity and a far better winning percentage.
We always expect to win. No one will be harder on Petersen than us -
Absolutely yes
There is very little comparison to those other coaches. The best Boise did was finish 13 in SRS (pre- CP). CP finished #13 or better in 5 of his first 6 seasons. CP was way better than those guys at Boise. Those other guys rated fairly mediocre upon closer look.priapism said:The Energetic Dirk Koetter:

Completely agree. Their resume aren't even remotely close to Petersens who has shown results on the national stage. He is the only one of that group that shows he could be lethal with the resources of a big time program.HeretoBeatmyChest said:

He could end up being another flop in the BSU line but I feel good about our chances just watching random Boise State games throughout the years. He is a proven offensive mind. -
Absolutely yesIt took me some time to come around on Petersen, and the CBS Sports Interview was alarming, although y'all made some good points that most of these uber successful coaches hate the fucking media and have trouble with 'em anyways. I concur. I just hope he doesn't get burnt out on this job and his performance suffers accordingly.
With that being said and all things considered, this hire has to be considered a homerun.
Damn near no one could pry this guy away from Boise St., and the fact that UW did, will be perceived extremely well, which is a big part of this whole thing, whether we like it or not.
I was initially hesitant because of how his predecessors fared after they left BSU. But when you dig into it and look at his resume, the numbers are pretty staggering:
- 92-12; .885% winning percentage
- 5-2 Bowl games; 2-0 in BCS bowl games
- 4 WAC Champs, 1 MTN West
- 2-0 vs 0regon GFY
- 18 NFL draft selections; 4 1st rounders
- 2 Bear Bryant Awards; 1 Bobby Dodd
I don't think there's any question that he can coach. He went down to the Fiesta Bowl his 1st year of being a HC and schooled Bob Stoops. Now THAT, sports fans, is fucking impressive.
But like any hire, there's always some risk. You can never be 100% certain a coach is going to be a good fit (Unless his name is Urban Meyer), and only time will tell.
The AD proved me wrong and I'm glad he did. I thought he was going to botch it. Well done.
I'm excited about Husky football again because I do think this is a great hire and a good fit for the program.
Petersen seems like a genuine person. It's going to be very refreshing having Petersen representing UW, leading our team, instead of having some bullshit artist lead the program, who was an embarrassment to the university.
Here's to Petersen's continued success at UW.
Cheers, you fukin lunatics.

Yes, but there's a limit to my patienceI think the Koetter Hawkins comparison is unfair. Over his time Petersen accomplished much more than either of them and was really the brains behind hawkins

THIS. From my understanding he was the Chip Kelly running the show and they were riding his coat tails.dhdawg said:I think the Koetter Hawkins comparison is unfair. Over his time Petersen accomplished much more than either of them and was really the brains behind hawkins
Time will tell if that is true. I think Petersen just like that is arguably the best coach in our division(him or Shaw). While with Sark he was in the Riley/Leach tier and probably below Sling Blade. -
Absolutely yesWe could have resurrected Gil Dobie and there would be a limit to my patience. Any coach would have to produce.
But this was a fantastic hire for UW.
