#16 SoundgardenI like Nirvana. I think the only area where they exceeded Soundgarden and Alice in Chains was in hype. I guess that translates to influence so I get the seeding, but still.
Edited for bad typing...English motherfucker, do you speak it? -
#16 SoundgardenSoundgarden is much much much better.

Reverse Soundgarden and Nirvana and you've got it.Peterman said:AIC -> Nirvana -> Soundgarden -> Pearl Jam

None of them come close to AIC. They'd take this bracket rather easily (34-17) if I were King for a day. -

You shouldn't ignore their impact. They were the flagship model for a pretty amazing resurgence of hard rock popularity. Nobody else from the era can match Teen Spirit in terms of a ready made hit that still rocked.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Nirvarna is the most overrated band of the past 35 yrs.

#1 NirvanaMuch like the Beatles, Nirvana, was some dudes at the right place in the right moment in history and they fucking capitalized. Yes, I get the point that SG had mor "talented" musicians, but the talent gap doesn't matter to me as much in these types of debates. Cobain had an ear for a good tune and was an incredible fucking songwriter. Cliché as they may be Nevermind and In Utero were crammed full of classic songs. Insecticide and Bleach had many great ones too. The live album was fucking brilliant. Shit ton of good songs >>>>>> superior "musicianship".

#1 NirvanaNirvana is one of the most important bands in the history of rock. Soundgarden is a really solid band.
Saying Nirvana is overhyped is weird. It’s like saying the Beatles are overhyped. They were truly great for a moment.
Soundgarden was making heavy music because they thought it was kind of funny, stupid and fun. Later they basically started to veer stylistically into Nirv territory.
I’m saying this as a person who knows, likes and respects people in Soundgarden. Everyone in that band knows Nirvana is better and more culturally important.
Alice In Chains is a joke. -

#1 NirvanaWhat did Soundgarden do that Judas Priest ot Iron Maiden didn’t?
-
#1 NirvanaI still play "Come As You Are" on my 'Merican Strat and think that riff sounds cool. Nirvana wrote some good riffs for hackers who suck at guitar like me.
-
#1 NirvanaAlso: I love Soundgarden.

Jof and Dirt are both fucking amazing. Cultural importance doesn't mean much to me, if I'm just going off the tunes its AIC all day, and I love Nirvana -

#1 NirvanaDon't like either of these two assholes as people, but Cobain was a genius, musically and culturally, like him or not. A mesmerizing frontman and showman. Cornell in comparison is like that baby swimming in water on the Nevermind cover. And he's going to gurgle.

You said the Stones we're the Poison of their generation so i doubt anyone is taking you seriously anyway. That's because you're clearly retarded, or looking to be controversial by saying stupid shit.oregonblitzkrieg said:Don't like either of these two assholes as people, but Cobain was a genius, musically and culturally, like him or not. Sounds like your feelings are hurt your boy Chris isn't going to win this one. Fake news about the Stones. They sound like glorified butt rock, like Poison or Warrant imo, but made it big because they were musically revolutionary and had big personalities to match. And lots of FREE PUB. That's all. Fuck off.dflea said:
