It's shitty that we have to pick through leftovers and then celebrate the least left over, or do we?
My concerns about Peterson:
1 - history of coaches from Boise
2 - Whittingham - I know it has nothing to do with Peterson other than small conference to big
3 - is he still hungry? Taking us from Sloppy Steve to Roses will be harder than taking us from Ty to where we are.
Help me out here.
And yes, it's an upgrade from Sven. But Nuss would likely have been an upgrade.

this is a great hire. the only thing wrong with it was waiting until the in-home recruiting session was almost over.

1. By every measurable, Petersen was the best coach ever at Boise St
2. Whittingham, like Patterson, brought a mid major school into a BCS conference. We can all agree that this roster is pretty deep with Pac 12 talent.
3. This is the major question. I don't know him, but this reminds me of Tressel or Meyer making the jump to bigger schools. -
Whittingham is underwhelming because Utah is still Utah.

One thing you have to give him credit for, he actually does "coach up" kids; not just throw the term around like the last 4 coaches. -
This history of MW coaches moving up, or their programs moving up, is troubling. But as a @IrishDawg22 rightly pointed out...for every Patterson and Hawkins there is a Meyer and Tressel.
However you see it this is the best hire since Rick. -
You can't deny that this is a great hire. Woody redeemed himself - big time.
