No clue...just because it was a nerve agent Russia developed (that was published 10 years ago and therefore could have been made by anyone) doesn't mean it was them, but it could also mean anything from Putin being pissed and sending a message at Steele for dragging him into this to Putin being pissed that someone was either making stuff up from "internal Russian sources" or if you believe the Dossier leaking some real info in it.

It is not obviously the Russians trying to cover their tracks. It is the Russians sending a clear message to all Russians anywhere in the world that they'd better behave or face the consequences. Done two weeks before their elections, this was a message from Russians to Russians. They could've sent an assassin to shoot him in the back of the head if they just wanted him dead, but that wouldn't have been publicized, and it might not have been linked to Russia. Doing it this way, brazenly, in the open, with something only the Russian Armed Forces use, with no regard for international consequences, makes a strong and clear statement that other governments cannot protect anybody who betrays Mother Russia. Behave, or else.

Maybe Hillary got some nerve agent in trade on the uranium deal.
