I voted Crue because I do not consider GnR to be hair metal. That said, love me some Crue. Patterned my life after the way they lived in the 80's.

    G n' R ain't no hair metal. But I voted for 'em.

I'll have you know that for their first Seattle show, Axl wore pink lycra tights. And eye makeup.

My buddy still hates him and them for it. I thought AFD was a great album, and tried to lobby for them, but he won't have any of it. This same dude might be AC/DC's biggest fan alive today and I'm not sure how he is dealing with the thought of Axl fronting AC/DC. I've been afraid to ask. He's big and from Shelton, so he's not the kind of guy you want to piss off.

I'm not really a fan of hair metal bands, but will happily listen to GnR or Motley Crue - the rest of that list can DIAFF.

I don't think "teased" long hair and lycra pants are e-nuff to qualify for "hair metal". Consider Van Halen, which was definitely not hair metal. G n' R still get lumped in there, but they had way too much Stonesy, tuff swagger to fall into the hair metal genre IMHO.

Top 4 hard rock/metal groups of the 80's - i.e., AC DC, Van Halen, G n' R and Metallica - were all outside the hair metal genre.

G n R is right on the cusp. I mean, right on the razor's edge of being a hair band.

But the Throbber is down with putting G n R on the Mt. Rushmore of metal bands listed.

And Hanson. Who doesn't like Hanson?

I hated Hanson growing up, but it's amazing what a little time and perspective can do.

Write in Metal non hair category: Judas Priest. And how in the F did I not realize Rob H and maybe the rest of them were gay?
