It doesn't. Federal law provides basic restrictions, and the states may go further. It's telling that the NRA isn't arguing on the basis of the Supremacy Clause here, which is what they'd do if your comment had any merit. Instead, they're arguing on the basis of the 2nd Amendment. And since there are already age restrictions for handguns, the precedent has been set for restricting gun ownership on the basis of age.Sledog said:
