For me, it would be Mike Lustyk, Kevin Ware and James Johnson.

Lustyk...great call Derek. Only 3 guys here even followed recruiting then...steel2, Pup and you. I knew the 1st series vs Nebraska lustyk was a turd...and we were really going to miss #90. Lustyk was equivilent of a high 4-star cant miss prospect. So too was Izbiki. Pups philosophy has always been to steer queer of kingco... yeah u get an Ahmed type once every 10 years...stick to ghetto and gangster schools. Bellevue was gang wannabe's at least

But Derek, kevin ware had a fine career. Plus he blocked

Our 1992 class completely fucked our program. We had so many talented guys in that class... and in the end it was fucking Dave Janoski who was left standing. Look at the Jesse Callier rankings vs. (retro) star-ratings for that class... it hurts.

    QB Ted Stark (4* - JC1)
    RB Toby Brookins (4* - JC1)
    WR Jason Shelley (5* - JC1)
    WR Theron Hill (4* - JC1)
    WR Dave fucking Janoski (3* - JC3)
OL Joe Wells (4* - JC1 - transferred to fucking Oregon)
OL Lynn Johnson (3* - JC3 - he sucked, tho)
    OL Brad Brozaitis (4* - JC1)
    OL Bob Sapp (4* - JC4)
    DL David Richie (3* - JC3/4)
    BUCK Hernan Santiago (3* - JC1)
    BUCK Curtis Bogan (4* - JC1)
    LB Ink Aleaga (4* - JC4)
    DB Lawyer Milloy (4* - JC5)

Jesus fucking Christ. That class still breaks my heart. It was small because the NCAA reduced football schollies from 95 to 85, so we were downsizing. We had just won the Natty and most of these guys were big time. Biggest misses were Amani Toomer and Rashaan Salaam. Ugh.

Fuck that UW Cop who chased down Jason Shelly and got him booted from the team.
Still some solids in that class. Bob Sap was a beast at pulling guard. Ink was very good. And Lawyer redefined the position
Salaam wasnt a miss. No idea how he won heisman. He was worst TB to ever win award (isnt close). Torretta of tailbacks. His nfl failure proves my point

Ben Lindsey. Thought for sure he’d be the next Empterman but chose to do track for some fucktarded reason. I’m sure he’s lighting his cigars with $100s from all the $$$ he made throwing the discus.

Dennis is right. The 92 class looked like the continuation of a dynasty.

    It wasn't

The Wonder Twins were a particular disappointment

    Hilary Butler too

Ben Lindsay was a stud. He took a shit in some woods around Alderwood in the late 90's and it grew up to be Andrew Basham.

This would be mine too. The classic 5-star, look-like-a-Greek-God profile pic on TBS.com but ended up doing exactly jack shit. I fell hard for it like the doog that I am.

Seriously, I know the big time TBSers on here will probably disagree with me but when it comes to personnel, a third of it is the talent you sign, a third of it is developing it, and another third of it is retaining it.

    God, so many.

Cedric White sticks out, as does a defensive lineman from Houston around the same time whose name I can't remember (Patterson)? Both were highly rated and contributed zilch.

Uh, Chambers played well when given opportunity. Aside from his mental problems, blame the coach, qb and shitty team around him. Fogerson? He played and was meh.. Rhodes is only good call on your list. Fuck aside from Pup, these posts are shitty.

I expected more from derek. Ware, JJ? At least pick blue chip guys, thats point of the thread

Had to google Mackey as it was before my time; Crazy Story. Lived up to some pretty intense hype as a Freshman in 79 then disappeared back to Texas like a fart in the wind and never played another down again. Michael Patterson Madison HS Houston. 1995, Was a stud. I worked at sports Washington back then( kill me, pre Kim etc) and did a lot of work on that class hi light film. Patterson was buddies with Lester Towns, got home sick. I'm still waiting for Cal Lee St. Louis HS head coach at time to call me back about Olin Kruetz.

I think you guys need to look up "panned out". Jason Shelley panned out. He just couldn't stay on the team.

The biggest single disappointment of which I'm aware in the modern era is Mike Lustyk.

Tempting to say Paul Arnold, but again, look up "panned out". Arnold had back problems pretty much the entire time he was at Washington. That he was able to salvage something of his career by playing some semi-respectable receiver while being a shell of his athletic self tells you what a specimen that guy was.

I used to go to picture day. It's what I liked to do. You'd go and meet guys like Ben Mahdavi and say to yourself "that dude is Ben Mahdavi?" and wonder how the fuck they can shine on Saturdays with that body. I had a similar reaction to meeting Charles Frederick.

I did not have that reaction when I met Paul Arnold. Sitting down and relaxing, the guy's athleticism was just stand-out obvious. What a fucking shame with him. Nice kid too.
