    Our skepticism abotu the hire is completely understandable. Promote the interim has failed this athletic department numerous times. Make the "look at us we're so PC" hire has failed this athletic department numerous times. There was no reason to look at that hire and think "we got this one right".

    Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

    Maybe it wasn’t luck. Maybe she was the shining star in a failed department who was given the chance to lead. Maybe they had to clear out the dead wood to promote a true leader.
