Woodward choked.

So he didnt offer him 5 mil a year...death2ducks said:I just talked to a friend at Graves Bldg. He said Woodward offered Mora $4 Million. I think Woodward did everything he could, but UCLA was prepared for it.
Yep sounds like everything -
Will Peterson turn down $4 million?
-
if we're going to pay 4 million it better not be for fucking petersendeath2ducks said:Will Peterson turn down $4 million?

4?
Case closed fuck you pool boy out -
I agree. Woodward should have offered $5 million out of the box. Sark is probably getting at least $4.
In the basement... 1/2 gal of Crown Royal. Told everybody to leave me the fuck alone.
-
Might be able to get Brian Kelly for $4-5 mil.
-
UCLA was ready ...
fuck that shit.
4 million is chump change to someone with a fucking NFL pension waiting. -
Wilcox?

same source you tapped for scoop on Oregon sanctions? or different?death2ducks said:I just talked to a friend at Graves Bldg. He said Woodward offered Mora $4 Million. I think Woodward did everything he could, but UCLA was prepared for it.

I call BS on Death2ducks - unreliable financial details

I like the idea, but speaking practicalities... The TW hangover effect is still strong. I'm pretty sure that black coaches and ND coaches are off the table. Plus, ND would would go toe to toe with any bidding war.priapism said:Might be able to get Brian Kelly for $4-5 mil.

Kliff Kingsbury? Unless he goes to Texas, he should be gettable.
-
You're from Texas - you should know that Kingsbury is already at his dream job. And he's not that good anyway.

Why would you start at five million dollars? What kind of negotiating tactic is that?
-
There wasn't a negotiation. There was an offer, and UCLA gave him a new contract. We didn't get a second chance.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Why would you start at five million dollars? What kind of negotiating tactic is that?

Mora = just an asshole who never intended to go to UW at all but used UW in order to get himself and his staff more money from UCLA?
-
So you can close the fucking deal is why.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Why would you start at five million dollars? What kind of negotiating tactic is that?

It's called pricing the competition out of the market.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:Why would you start at five million dollars? What kind of negotiating tactic is that?
The goal is not to get the highest wins to dollar ratio. It's to get the most wins.

Fuck...this is why we have a Pool Boy as an AD. Mora doesn't give a shit about whether he got $4 or $5 million a year...Pool Boy should have had an extensive report/outline of the other things Mora would have gotten as coach (and would have had input into)...i.e.
- Assistant coach salaries/plans to allow him the best and brightest. Tell him his 2 coordinators will make $1+million, and he won't have to carry a Nansen around 'cause even the low guys will be making $400k instead of $130K.
- Facility plans for the next 10+ years with spending and current options of what that money would go to (with feel-good scenerios that with him as coach and the love the locals have for him addtional money will be generated and going to x, y, and z).
- Expansion of student athlete programs,
etc. etc.
In fact, Pool Boy should already have this...even if it BS...as a sales tool to whatever sucker he's going to try and lure to work for "him" next. If nothing else just to bluff the guy into thinking there is a thought process/plan of success (I'm doubting there is with him), and that as coach of UW he would be able to guide it to insure he does succeed. And to be honest the whole process of going over it with him is the selling...you let the guy start talking about his ideas as you interview him to get him to start picturing himself in that structure and as part of the process. Its basic BSchool concepts of negotiations and sales that seem well above our current Pool Boy's head.
Instead it looks like we got a 30 minute meeting over coffee and an offer of $4 million to come up. Our AD courting process is that he's willing to buy dinner in hopes of getting some, and as a result instead of the hot girl we're going to get either a fat/ugly or a starving one.

I think we could get Major Applewhite for 1/4 what we offered Mora and use the rest to bring back the swim team.
-
I'd accept him or Brian Kelly.priapism said:Might be able to get Brian Kelly for $4-5 mil.
Most of the other candidates being proposed on this bored can go prove themselves at Wyoming first. -

Sooooo, we offered him $5 million w/out a contract?
The fuck are you babbling about?
BTfW, you can kick the door in whenever you want if you have the balls to do it.
Mora is probably disappointed his school lacks the will to do so.
Talk about a candidate willing to give a "home town discount."
Twice!
I am embarrassed to be an alumn

The Pac-12, even with the additional $25 million a year from TV still aren't serious about football.
The rumor was Chip wanted $5 million and Oregon wouldn't do it. Embarrassing. -
And here I thought Chip wanted out before Emmertt threw down the ban hammer.Mosster47 said:The Pac-12, even with the additional $25 million a year from TV still aren't serious about football.
