Of course, they are. I say it all the time and it's based in fact. But none-of-us is an important elected official, so different standard of what you can and cannot say. And if you're going to make and off color remark, at least, do something funny like saying you just signed legislation outlawing the Soviet Union. 1- Manifest Destiny works best when you grab land that is sparsley populated (Hi @Swaye ) or not at all. Possession is 9/10ths of the law.
2 - The Northern States would have never allowed our incorporating that much southern land- i.e., more territory in which to expand slavery.
