HOA's serve a purpose, but too often, some dickface gets in charge and thinks they are in control of the world.
My HOA dipshits went and hassled a lady in my hood about her lawn needing to be mowed. Her husband had died a few weeks earlier, so she had other things to worry about. None of those fuckwits offered to help at all.
I sent my kid over to mow her lawn and told the HOA dipshits that they were dung beetles for hassling her, and offered to throw them the fuck off my lot if they wanted to discuss it in further detail. They all avoid me like the plague now.
HOA's serve a purpose, but they don't have to be cunts about it. The cunts that were in charge of our HOA decided they had enough and now we have actual humans in control. Nobody has a freezer or broken down car in the yard - Swaye would probably hate it. -

I've only lived in a HOA as a renter when we moved down here. In general I've liked it because I don't deal with any board members and if a tree needs trimming it's the owners problem
I was told where to keep my garbage cans.
Give anyone a taste of power and they'll find a way to abuse it. Not sure I'd buy in a HOA -

Having others control ones life sucks. I do as I please on my land but then I'm also not a dick. My area has very minimal CC&R rules but my property was excluded along with a few others.
