Second, I'm still in assessment mode about who and what we are doing for this cycle.
I think our priorities are...
1. DJ - we are up against Oregon. Oregon is the Miami of the West Coast.
2. Martin - He's visiting Oregon before he 'visits' us. If we can get him on the visit that will be the key.
3. Irvin - I don't think USC has room and I think we can beat ND for him. Harris should help.
4. Tuliaupupu - No fucking shot in the world.
5. Tuli and everyone else - no fucking shot in the world.
I think Skinny is coming, but the fact that UGA won may throw it back into play. I don't really know... I just think when you finish second for a recruit, a lot of times you're friend-zoned for life.
I still think he’s coming here, but some of that may depend on how badly UGA wants to fight for him. -
On Merlin - he's Samoan. He has a Samoan flag next to his name on twitter and constantly references Samoan stuff.
Also, 'Asians' 'Polynesians' and 'Native Americans' are likely to share a lot of phenotypic characteristics (that was kind of my point)... so with normal gene mixing over long periods of time it might be hard to tell one lineage from another from just looking.
But fuck if he doesn't look straight out Kid Frost's La Raza video.

He's got a lot of Southern Cali Hispanic style...which makes sense in Gardena I guess. I actually feel better about our odds with him now that I know he's Samoan(or part thereof). We definitely have a better draw for that. #polystrawng

Also, there are no good taquerias in Seattle. The only draw I can think of for this kid is playing for a championship caliber team and since all his first options seem to have cooled on him we are his best shot at that.
Not to judge a book by its cover, but a Samoan from Carson who looks gang affiliated might very well be. There are Polynesian sets of Bloods and Crips throughout the South Bay Cities of LA. -
