Numbers querey for the sexperts

Cumming into the season I think reasonable projections would have had UW loosing 4 kids to early entry: Vea, Gaskin, Gaines, and Adams. Maybe you think Gaskin was more likely to stay than go, but you still you had a guy like McGary making up for that. The o/u had to be at least 3.5.

Well, Adams got hurt, Gaines made the surprising decision to stay and rumors have Gaskin doing the same. Right now the O/U is like 1.2.

That obviously helps 2018 a ton, but that's 2-3 scholarships not being freed up for this class that one could have reasonably projected to be available.

The question is, can/will we make up for those spots with added couch repos?

I'd really like to see us? add five more kids to this class (Eason, Deonte J, Cravens, Martin and a safety). I know we *can* make that much room, my question is, will/would we? How many spots do we realistically have to fill?

Without looking in depth it seems like anyone who was a receiver this year not named Jones, Bryant, or #12 should LEAVE

    Chico too but yeah.

    I agree I like Fuller.

Baccellia can stay if he takes Browning's scholly.

right now, UW has 83 players on the roster, with Kentrell Love, Gadd and no walk-on scholarships:

    QB - 5 (Browning/Gadd/Haener/Sirmon/Yankoff)
    RB - 6 (Gaskin/Ahmed/McGrew/Pleasant/Lowe/Newton)
    WR - 11 (Baccellia/Chico/Fuller/Cook/Ty/Pounds/Bynum/Lenius/Chin/Osborne/Spiker)
    TE - 6 (Bryant/Neal/Sample/Otton/Kizer/Culp)
    OL - 15 (Harris/McGary/Roberts/Norgaard/Jaxson/Bainivalu/Hilbers/James/Trey/Sosebee/Wattenburg/Burleson/Curne/Ale/Mele)
    DL - 9 (Gaines/Levi/Jaylen/S. Bowman/Scrempos/Draco/Liu/Zion/Taimani)
    OLB - 7 (Benning/Amandre/Rice/Warren/Tryon/Tevis/Ngata)
    ILB - 8 (Wellington/Beavers/BBK/Manu/Eifler/Tafisi/Sirmon/Kaho)
    DB - 13 (Murphy/Molden/Joyner/Dotson/McKinney/JoJo/Love/Gilchrist/Rapp/Miller/Taylor/Gordon/Hampton)
    K - 1 (Soderberg)
    P - 1 (Whitford)
    LS - 1 (Carty)

Love and Gadd can be leaving, that number could go down to 81. M. Bryant, R. Bowman, Pulu and Bronson can get scholarships, so that number can go up to 87. What this means? I don't know, just putting this data I have so someone smarter can analysis it faster.

    Good chit.

Love and Gadd seem likely to be gone. That puts us even since most if not all of those walk ons are getting schollies IMO.

So we need five more couch sales to get all those guys in (or non walk on schollies).

It would seem two from the WR group are easy - Chin and Lenius most likely, but no one would miss Pounds or Baccellia either.

OL I don't know the depth nearly as well as some but I know people seem to hate Roberts, Hilbers, James and Sosebee so let's say one of them goes.

RB, DL and the specialists I'm guessing stay as is. Did Vizcaino graduato?

    OLB Rice maybe?

ILB Manu is the only option.

DB Dotson could go, seems the only one.

    So 3-5 is definitely doable.

    Thanks man.

Looking at the list and potential couch sellers ...

DBG will be leaving ... Haener may be encouraged to leave if Eason comes in AFTER 2018

I think we will see at least 1 if not 2 pieces of WR attrition (Brayden and Chin obvious candidates)

There will be an OL couch sell would be my guess ... particularly if we are recruiting another

I don’t see any DL attrition other than maybe Scrempos ... Bronson will get a scholarship ... I could see a transfer or grad transfer as part of the equation

At OLB, Warren has moved to FB/H-Back ... only possible candidate I see is Rice

At ILB, I could see Manu moving on as I don’t think he will ever get in the depth

At DB, the candidates are Love and Dotson ... although I’m not sure that Dotson will be encouraged per se as he is a valuable special teams player

I would be surprised if we didn’t try to do something with Soderberg ... he does not have a P12 leg

There are a lot of candidates out there

Baccellia isn't leaving. He has a strong hold on the Marvin Hall Jr. Memorial WR position. Will be mostly useless outside 3-4 plays a year and probably have the best NFL career of any WR on our current roster.

Here are the guys who should go and the coaches that recruited them:

QB - Bridge-Gadd (Smith; he won't go), Haener (Smith; he won't go)
WR - Dickey (Pease), Pounds (Pease), Fuller (Pease), Baccelia (Pease), Chin (Pease/Hamdan)
    TE - Neal (Paopao)
OL - James (Straußer), Burleson (Straußer), Sosebee (Straußer)
    OLB - Myles Rice (Kwiatkowski/Choate)
    ILB - Kyler Manu (Gregory)
    DB - Jomon Dotson (Bonapha)

With Pounds/Fuller/Baccelia - one of those guys is fine. Three is a nightmare.

Am I the only one who thinks Fuller is a decent role player? He's obviously not great, but he's not useless like those other guys.

    Fuller/Pounds/Baccelia: pick one.

Fuller. He could be a good slot guy for us if our QB had an arm.

Fuller was the best of the three last year and the best of the three this year. There’s no debate.

I agree. Not a bad 3rd or 4th WR on a legit team.

This. Fuller kinda reminds me of Devin Aguilar. Solid college player who isn’t great in any one area.
