Probably. Washington couldn't even win the Pac-10 after all.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:BYU goes like 8-3 in the Pac 10 in 1984. We all know it.
Yeah Sven, that's totally it.

They should have been banned from the top 10 for that alone.
Washington chose the inferior opponent for the money instead of choosing the best opponent for the national title.

I don't see how an 8 team playoff is an upgrade. Anything more than 4 teams will kill the regular season and bowl games but that isn't a lot of revenue to make up for it.dnc said:UCF and the Big Tens Bowel domination will both be big steps towards the 8 team playoff. Every Power 5 Champ, the highest rated Gang of 5 team, two wild cards.
Its going to happen.
Like basketball quickly learned you have to expand as far as possible while still making the tournament interesting. It makes way more sense to go straight to 16 teams.
11 game regular season, 9 conference games mandatory, no more CCGs. Make an NIT type playoff with 16 teams as well. You're basically rewarding the Top 25 and it will be infinitely better than the bowl system.
The higher seed hosts until the Final Four. Full stadiums for all the games and the money goes to the actual participants instead of a useless third party. -
I'm ok with expanding to 16, but that might be overkill.Mosster47 said:

Anything that kills the bowl games is a good thing. -
Major College football should remain a Peculiar Chinstitution.

I don't think it's overkill at all. Doing and NCAA and NIT type thing would add even more interest.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

The "worst" matchup of a 16 team this year is Clemson vs Sparty. Sparty could easily win that game in Death Valley.
The next wouldn't happen because the committee isn't letting OU and TCU play for a third time.
An ND and Georgia rematch would be widely received and that's the supposed to be the third worst matchup.
Every year would be like this. There would be nothing left to bitch about and the post season would have meaning for pretty much every team that had a solid season. -
Sarcasm much ?TierbsHsotBoobs said:How can the AP voters ignore the only undefeated team in America?
Not only did UCF play only 11 regular season gaymes - but its really hard to determine if their best win was Austin Peay or Maryland.

All you guys so damn fired up to make college ball as bad as the NFL should just get ready for that big Titans Bills matchup and leave college ball alone

Disagree with your take on an eight team playoff. An eight team playoff would be much better than a four team "playoff" provided the eight team tournament removes the judges from the majority of the bids. Automatic bids to the five P5 conference champs and three at large bids would make it less about the judges and more about on the field performance.
Agree with you on expanding to 16 teams. That would virtually remove the judges' influence in all but seeding. That would produce a "true" champion and be much more interesting than what we have now. -
Three sub .500 teams made it to a bowl gayme in 2016. (in that regard) CFB is already as bad as the NFL.RaceBannon said:All you guys so damn fired up to make college ball as bad as the NFL should just get ready for that big Titans Bills matchup and leave college ball alone
But, still. I see your pooooont.

If they took 4 bowls for New Years Day for the 8 teams with auto invites for conference champs it would bring back value to winning your league and allow for non con games as tuff as you want because it won't work against you. You just have to win the league.
Play the semis as a home game for the higher ranked then the final at a neutral site
-
Totally agree. This is what they should have done instead of going FBA with the BCS.RaceBannon said:If they took 4 bowls for New Years Day for the 8 teams with auto invites for conference champs it would bring back value to winning your league and allow for non con games as tuff as you want because it won't work against you. Hell just keep rotating bowl tie ins - NY6 plus current CFP gets you 6 "big" bowls already. Orange, Fiesta, Rose, Sugar, Peach and Cotton. Play 4 of them in the round of 8, and two more in the semi's. Rotate it around.
For the final two teams there is no bowl game tie...it's the CFB National Fucking Championship Game and play it at Jerry World or some other similar site every year (centrally located in US). 5 Major champs, 1 shit division entrant so UCF will stop crying, and 2 at large bids done by committee. Committee ranks them.
Done. The 6 big bowls get to keep their prestige and make big bucks, the networks still get all their tie in's and games, plus you add a HUGE fucking Championship spectacle at Jerry World every year. In 10 years the CFB NCG would be like the damn Superb Owl. Total spectacle. This shit is so easy a drunk red man can do it. -
Really? Haven't we seen enough SEC dick sucking already? And you want to give one team a bye? Terrible idea. Absolutely terrible.whlinder said:
I actually really like Faux Pelini’s suggestion of a 7 team playoff instead of an 8 team one. Give the #1 team a bye, which puts focus back on being number one instead of on who is number 4 or number 8.dnc said:UCF and the Big Tens Bowel domination will both be big steps towards the 8 team playoff.
