Central built a big halftime lead and then coasted to lose in OT last month. But, that only shows that they are a good team, but don't compete when then need to.

Well it would look much worse for football players actually from this state if Texas-Commerce lost instead of won the natty. The D1 teams have only a minority of players from Washington

The ppoint being that the state needs a strong football ecosystem all around, from high school up. It places less pressure on competing with recruiting out of state if you have players who grew up watching the huskeies or Coougs; they have a certain loyalty. The level of players at Central is an acid test for the state football ecosystem.
