    Hi. Chip was from the other side of the country. He hated recruiting and you have to get on a plane to recruit just about anyone to Eugene. Then you factor in his salary was about $3M a year. The Eagles gave him close to $7M a year. He was back way closer to home and he didn't have to recruit anymore.

    The rumor I've heard from a couple different booster was Chip asked for $5M a year and the AD said no way.

    Closer to home + not having to do something you hate + doing what you love at a higher level + double the salary = Common Sense.
