If more of the general public - which was dirt ass poor at the time - had bought more tommy guns (they weren't cheap), they might never have been restricted, as contrasted to today with the AR-15 type rifles which are perhaps the most popular firearms in the US.

My grand pappy that was a Captain in the infantry carried one. Guessing it was indispensable at killin' Nazis at close range.

If you have never shot a Tommy Gun you are missing one of life's great pleasures.

I worked nights at a long closed Seattle gun store (up in Lake City) to help put myself through school while in NROTC at the UW - scholarship didn't buy booze or blow. One of the old fellas I worked with (dead now) had his NFA paperwork and owned an uzi and a thompson. We used to go up to the owners cabin (just north of Marysville) and torch off huge numbers of rounds with both of them. So much fucking fun.

Hickock 45 is my favorite firearms porn on the Youtubes by the way. I can't think of anything he hasn't blasted off on his TN compound in the woods.

I think @DerGolve (RIP) linked it here a couple years ago and I've been hooked since.

I haven't shot a gun since 1980 on a bud farm in Hawaii. Night guard. Like a good FNG I'd just randomly shoot in the air to let any robbers know I was there

I'm not a gun guy at all.

You could walk into the hardware store and buy a Thompson or a BAR or anything you wanted. Odd there weren't mass shootings except for gangs killing gangs. Few downsides in that. They didn't shoot up plays or movie theaters. Odd since those evil guns were available why wasn't it happening. Why is it a modern thing?
