That comment thread gave me canceraids. Bunch of fucking mouthbreathers begging for a guy with a CIB to get fragged for his beliefs. You can always tell who never served but likes to play dress up.

At worst, the kid is looking at some bullshit about uniform standards and violation of the social media policy, which isn't even, in itself a punitive regulation. All the CO can do is say "knock it off, dumbass," and if he doesn't, AND it isn't an unconstitutional infringement on his 1st Amendment right to be a dumbass, he could get in trouble.



I look forward to the IG inquiry of the 2-10 MTN PAO and whoever else thought that putting out his name and the comment that he's being investigated was a good idea. That's an easy violation of the Privacy Act and much else besides. End-of-career kind of things for potentially that entire BDE staff.

Maybe I can send a smoke signal to Watertown and get IMC'ed to this kid's case, if one ever arises (it probably won't).

Let me put it this way. Dude was probably an open communist while he was an enlisted infantryman. Nobody in his unit gave a shit. In fact, he must have been pretty damn good to get recommended to go to USMA. That's a big fucking deal. We had a kid get a West Point ticket from my company in Iraq. Brigade commander routed his recommendation for him thru to the CG, US Forces- Iraq.

Kid is also sporting a lot more bling there than the average cadet. CIB, Air Assault, Airborne tabs. Plus he actually has a few medals on his chest. Nothing major, but you'll notice none of the other kids have any.

Other guys in his squad gave no fucks, most likely. Either you do your job and you're a guy they can count on or you're a useless oxygen thief. And the latter group of guys typically don't get admission letters to the Academy. Hell, they (both enlisted dudes and kids at USMA) probably thought it was funny.

Infantry guys do beat the fuck out of their LTs, but only the ones they love.
