The only reason you keep around a lame duck coach is if they happen to have a stellar recruiting class going and you want to keep 75% of them on board for the future.
If you want to actually hire a good coach you can him right away. Let Wilcox finish out the season and Woody can start contacting agents and when the time rolls the day after the National Championship on April 11th he can be the first one to set interviews and make offers.
USC cares about football. Look at how they handled their ex-Carroll OC. Lane was under terrible scholarship sanctions and still got the fucking axe on the tarmac. How is UW going to show they are serious? -
