Poor LeBron never played on a superteam

Because 3 is no longer a superteam

It just depends on how you want to define super team.

Every team he's been on is a super team, because he's LeBron. His problem is the refs have it out for him.

Lebron James 4.
Nuff said on that. -

Lebron obviously deserves shit for losing to Dallas.
San Antonio and Golden State had unreal depth compared to the corpses that they shovel out onto the court when he's not in.
JR was on fire tonight, but holy fuck. Jefferson did not deserve to play. Deron did not deserve to play. Shumpert can't resist his usual 5 pre-game blunts before an elimination game. Love has his moments but overall should be a fringe all star rotting in Portland.
Lebron haters deserve to choke on their newly bought "The City" throwback unis. -

All these complaints about super teams makes me appreciate the 2011 Mavericks more and more everyday. One hall of famer in his prime in Dirk, one hall of famer near the end in Jason Kidd, and a bunch of good, but not all time great players. Wound up ending Phil Jackson's coaching career and taking down the super team in Miami.

LeBron has already said this. He said if he would have joined Boston back in 2010 it would be similar to what Durant did by joining GS.

1) Cleveland's front office is shit and can't manage their cap and sign good enough players
or
2) Good enough players don't want to play with Lebron and he can't convince them to come to Cleveland to watch him be the man. Because, like, Bron's gonna Bron.

When James joined Wade and Bosh they had all three been All Stars each of the past 5 seasons (6 for LeBron and Wade) for a total of 17 All Stars between them. They were all in their primes (Wade was 28, Bosh was 26, James was 25). They had 6 first team all NBA appearances, 5 second team all NBAs and 1 third team all NBAs between them (total of 12), two MVP trophies and one Finals MVP.
When Durant joined the Warriors, the Big Four, they had all four been All Stars for one season together (7 straight for Durant, 3 straight or Curry, 2 straight for Klay and 1 for Green) for a total of 13 All Stars between them. They were all in their primes (Curry was 28, Durant 27, Green 26 and Klay 26). They had 7 first team all NBA appearances, 3 second team all NBAs and 1 third team all NBAs between them (total of 11), three MVP trophies and no Finals MVPS.
Golden State's big four is better than Miami's big three but that doesn't make Miami less of a superteam it just makes Golden State a little more of one. You could argue either way on this current Cleveland team, but you can't deny Miami IMO. The difference is Miami's third star was bigger than either of GS's third stars, but GS has one more star. If you ranked the 7 players at the times the deals were signed you'd go 1 James 2 Durant, 3 Steph 4 Wade (3 and 4 is super close though) 5 Bosh 6 Green 7 Thompson.
LeBron should have said something like "Players before us fought long and hard for us to have the right to choose where we play, I can't control who plays with who but I'm glad we have that right." Saying it's bad for the game when he worked endlessly to put the Miami one together (and tried to get both Melo and Chris Paul to join them at different points as well) is just a bad look.
Dave Portnoy is right. -

No one said Lebron the GM isn't shit. He needs
Lebron + 1-2 other all stars and dreck on the rest of the team != super teamallpurpleallgold said:It just depends on how you want to define super team.
Golden State where there is 1 bad player on the entire team, and even he did his part in ending Kawahi == super team.
I actually like Golden State a lot, the other franchises need to get their shit together. The NBA has the worst roster management of the 4 major pro sports.
-
The Miami superteam had Udonis Haslem, Ray Allen, Mike Miller, Shane Battier and Rashard Lewis at various points (at least three of them at all times IIRC). They weren't devoid of quality role players.haie said:No one said Lebron the GM isn't shit. He needs

But yes, Golden State's roster construction and player development are top notch. Let's not forget what a big step forward almost everyone on the team took after they hired Kerr. Not sure how much was Kerr and how much was Mark Jackson being awful, but that team is just stacked in the front office and on the bench as well as on the court. -
If you take Lebron off those Heat teams they win zero championships. If you take Durant off the Warriors, well, we literally already know what happens because they literally already won a championship without him.dnc said:

Super team definition- when you can take the best player off the team and they'd still win the championship.
Also, Draymond is better than Bosh. -
Durant joined a 73 win team. LeBron and Bosh joined a 45 win team that had to be completely gutted to add those two and Mike Miller.
LeBron is right. -
Watch the 30 for 30 over the next two nights. Super teams are super right down to the bench. Michael Cooper started off as a 6th man and defender. Walton joined the Celtics as a 6th man
And the starting 5s were awesome. They didn't need to go anywhere because they had Red and Jerry West, two of the all time best ever GMs.
People forget that if not for Jerry West, Kevin Love would be a Warrior and Klay klay could be anywhere -
It's worth also pointing out that the core of GS outside of KD was drafted by GS ...
A true super team to me is way more akin to what Miami did than what GS did ... that's just top notch management at all levels of the organization ...
And Race is right for the first time in a few weeks ... what made those 80s Celtics/Lakers teams great was the depth that they had on the bench -

Just going to throw this out there, but the coach needs to be in the discussion when we're sizing up and debating "super teams," not just the roster talent.

How is Kerr better than Spolestra?
-
Kerr through 3 seasons with the Warriors super team: .841 win% in tougher conference, 2-1 in the finals. Took a 51 win team, just added Iggy and won 67 games the next year (+16 net).RaceBannon said:How is Kerr better than Spolestra?
Spoelstra in 4 with the Heat super team: .712 win% in a much weaker conference, 2-2 in the finals. Took his 47 win team, added LeBron, Bosh, others and won 58 games (+11 net). -
I like Spolestra a lot but I don't see how you can rate Kerr below anyone but Pop and Carlisle. The Warriors took off when he took over.RaceBannon said:How is Kerr better than Spolestra?
