73 years ago a bunch of US and allied men decided NOT to hold a candlelight vigil on the beaches of Normandy.

We were a global laughingstock

All the Portland soldiers must have been given latrine duty.Dude61 said:73 years ago a bunch of US and allied men decided NOT to hold a candlelight vigil on the beaches of Normandy.

One of my 2 (grand) dads stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. However, he landed on Utah Beach instead of Omaha, which is can partially be attributed to him surviving the war; still got 2 Purple Hearts later on in France and Germany.

The persistence of HH members in believing that 2 human beings of the same sex can procreate never ceases to astonish.dnc said:

Christ, it's like BeaverMobile never died
Omaha is memorialized and mythologized, because it was a tough landing. But even had we* been repulsed completely at Omaha, the landings would have been a success because Utah, Sword, and Juno were relatively uncontested. Again, for the umpteenth time, we* didn't do this until it was a foregone conclusion that we* would succeed. Ask race, he was there -

The odds were in our favor but it was certainly not the Foregone conclusion that you no doubt seeped into the heads of limp wristed kids when you used to play Professor.

My grandpa was a belly gunner on a B-17. That's an Air Force veteran.
Me melting a bunch of brown people in the comfort of an air conditioned room on a 1080p screen was pretty non-heroic. -
@BearsWiin and beavermobile exhausted the GG subject as was referenced earlier

My grandpa was drafted and sent to Germany after we had basically won. He started a rec baseball league between the bases.

Poor Germans, having to watch troops playing baseball, thinking, "We lost to this?!"Pitchfork51 said:My grandpa was drafted and sent to Germany after we had basically won. He started a rec baseball league between the bases.

Lol when he was getting out of basic an officer asked him "do you know how to type?" And he immediately just said yes.GrundleStiltzkin said:

So he got sent off to some easy detail.
Of course he obviously had no clue how to type but it didn't really matter.
He tells it pretty good. I've learned generally old people are good at story telling.
Race what's your excuse -
I liked The Longest Day better (but I am an old fart) than Saving Ryan's Privates
