State Rights!!11!1

“I do believe you’ll see greater enforcement of it,” Spicer said in response to a question during a news conference. But he offered no details about what such enforcement would entail. President Donald Trump does not oppose medical marijuana, he added, but “that’s very different than recreational use, which is something the Department of Justice will be further looking into.”
Spicer’s comments came the same day as a Quinnipiac poll said 59 percent of Americans think marijuana should be legal and 71 percent would oppose a federal crackdown.
Washington’s attorney general, Bob Ferguson, said he and Gov. Jay Inslee, both Democrats, requested a meeting with Sessions about his approach to legal, regulated marijuana. Ferguson led the states in fighting off Trump’s executive order on immigration in court and said Thursday he’s prepared to lead the way in defending legal marijuana, too.
I heart Ferguson.

The hypocrisy is galloping.

Fuck Spicer. Just unschedule it and be done.

Not in the business interest of the hillbillies of Appalachia - i.e., Trump cuntry - to have legal weed.
-
I'm sure Sessions wants to crack down but Trump has to know that this would piss of a significant part of his base. Would be a risky move.

The contradictions are becoming so obvious and glaring even a Trumpkin might understand.
Sean Spicer, in one press conference:
Transgender kids in schools? - STATES RIGHTS!eleven!
Legal, regulated recreational weed? - Well have that unreformed bigot running the DoJ look into it.
It was fun while it lasted. Now they're coming for @RaceBannon and his Kong Bong.

I saw a billboard today advertising investment in weed farms. The train is way out of the station
I stand by my prediction that Trump will change the law before he is done. There aren't any votes anymore in this bullshit
@salemcoog could possibly be right about the drug companies
And the hypocrisy on states rights is rampant. All over -

Sounds like the negotiations on the new Fed weed tax are going to be ruff

I'd like for you to be correct, but Sessions literally said "Good people don’t smoke marijuana" just a few months ago.RaceBannon said:I saw a billboard today advertising investment in weed farms. The train is way out of the station

Isn't the mantra "Trump does what says he's going to do"? -
And in definitely 100% unrelated news today:
Jeff Sessions signals support for government use of private prisons -
You quoted Sessions. The mantra is Trump will be Trump.UWhuskytskeet said:

It's a prediction. We'll see -
I'm hearing this is what Race voted for.

isn't it great having a president who keeps his promises!
-
I saw a poll a few months ago that said a majority of REPUBLICANS want it legal and like 80% want it legal for medical use.
Meanwhile in DC, we have 1 political party who wants to research and maybe eventually legalize it (to their credit they are willing to let states do the work for them) and then another party who buys into the "gateway drug" horseshit and wants it completely illegal. -

There's no mutual exclusivity here. Illegal weed is the biggest cash crop in Appalachia, the heart of Trump country.
That said, I'd suspect you are correct in the sense that Big Pharma has a lot more dollars (billions of them) at stake in terms of people easing their "pain" with opioids instead of cheap, legal weed. I'll admit I haven't read up on this specific issue in any detail: Can you recommend any articles on the subject of Big Pharma lobbying against legal weed? -

If you guys are thinking the democrats are somehow different you are detached from reality. If a couple of brothers like Obama and Holder pussied out on it what is your basis of thinking this?
Democrats have controlled congress numerous times over the last 40 years. People do want it legal.
This is the basis of my prediction. Its the Nixon went to China effect. Hi IDawg! -
Normal america has common sense. 80% for weed, 61% for marriage equality, 90% for background checks, and yet 100% of politicians won't listen to any of this b/c of big $. Instead we'll waste more time fighting it than the real crippling issues of the country.dhdawg said:I saw a poll a few months ago that said a majority of REPUBLICANS want it legal and like 80% want it legal for medical use.

People scream States rights when it comes to marijuana, but demand the Federal Gov get involved when it comes to accommodating Transgenders and bathrooms. Let's hope Trump defaults to States rights on both issues.

If you paid attention, Obama and the AG did a lot the last 4 years for marijuana. What they can't do is unschedule it, which is what needs to happen and will only occur through Congress.RaceBannon said:If you guys are thinking the democrats are somehow different you are detached from reality.
