Elway is the only star player I can think of that has gone back to his team and succeeded as a president or GM.
Joe Dumars won a title in Detroit, but he wasn't really a star and he probably didn't have a million other things going on in his life like Magic.
Magic is a shitty hire because there probably isn't a single team in the NBA that would hire him other than the Lakers. He wouldn't take another job either because his life in is LA. You know he will still be actively involved with all of his businesses too.
It's a nostalgic distraction for Lakers' fans. They better pray this agent actually becomes a good GM because they are fucked otherwise.
It's early, but none of their recent top picks look like All-Stars. Ingram looks like just a guy and Russell won't become a true star. They spent a ton of money lst year on Mozgov and Luol Deng. It's more likely they come the west coast version of the Knicks than a title contender the next five years. -
