    OP you sound not only ignorant but hateful. As a liberal I would be ok with not having any kind of insanity plea in court but if that's the law you need to follow it.

    It's not "the law." It's an opinion from psychiatrists that he poses no further threat to the public, after stabbing a fellow greyhound bus passenger to death, then decapitating him, then eating body parts. But he's fine now, they say. Stay tuned. I guarantee this guy will be back in the news.

    I missed out on my shot to be a juror in a capital murder case because the defense attorney axed me if I believe he insanity defense is legitimate and I said no.

    Yes, I'm the weirdo who actually wanted to be on the jury.

    I'm with you that the law needs to be followed if it's a legitimate part of the law. I also think this illustrates why there's a good case it shouldn't be. Pretty sure everyone who's ever cannibalized a human being for pleasure/fun/anything except pure survival wasn't right in the head. I can't imagine making the call to release someone like that back into society at large.

    Semantics. The law in this instance obviously states that he can be released upon approval by the shrinks. So yeah, it's the law.
