According to Harvard and Princeton Economists Lawrence Katz and Alan Krueger (Krueger being Obama's chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors until 2013...)

“We find that 94% of net job growth in the past decade was in the alternative work category,” said Krueger. “And over 60% was due to the [the rise] of independent contractors, freelancers and contract company workers.” In other words, nearly all of the 10 million jobs created between 2005 and 2015 were not traditional nine-to-five employment.

i.e. the US has created a bunch of bartender/waiter jobs and not much else, and even his own advisors seem "surprised" by that.

I chuckle when "free market" conservatives complain about an increase in contractors and sole proprietors. Then complain about a not enough increase in "9-5" jobs. Cause clearly only 9-5 W2 jobs are respectable jobs now.

We should all aspire to working 2 waiting jobs to stay afloat...

You're not even addressing honda's point. A point which is surprisingly legit. Contract work is very appealing to some, especially highly motivated, high achievers.

Your analysis of the quote you cited missed the mark considerably.

Most of these contract jobs aren't legit jobs. Most are multi-level sales jobs, which over half lose money on, and only about 10% make an honest livable wage.

Businesses don't want full time employees due to Obozo care. Simple fact and no choices involved for most employees.

Actually that's not true either. The part time employment scare that the right wing news sites pushed was about as legit as death panels and Obamacare cratering the economy.

So, there aren't 250,000 UBER drivers classified as "New Businesses" in the United States that have been added in the past 6 years?

Yes, independent contract work and sole proprietorship are generally good things that benefit small business and the individual worker. But typical HondoFS can't understand that Obubba's economy is not creating millions of the types of contract jobs where people are stepping over each other to take.

If you can't see that the contract jobs Obubba has "created" are by and large, the ones people take out of necessity, you are HondoFS.

First of all, Obama didn't create jobs. Secondly, in most expansions, there's a mix of jobs that are created. I'm the 2000s, it was temporary jobs from the housing market, like sheet rockers and such, and service jobs from the explosion in restaurants and such.

This decade it was technology jobs and service jobs, including Uber. Our economy is transitioning into a technology society from a manufacturing one. Medical jobs have also increased a lot the last decade (despite the "news" that said Obamacare would crater health care jobs).

A lot of these things are out of the control of the president or Congress. You can increase taxes on imports and if it's still cheaper to pay people in China to do the work, companies will.

That being said, how do you think Trump will create jobs that meet your definition of a good job?

That people have been forced to make their personal vehicles into taxi's in order to make ends meet.

    That's Obamanomics in a nutshell!
