If Petersen is a big game coach we beat USC this year.

He is a very good coach, but if he was particularly good in big games we win that one. We should have won it as it was.

He's a really good coach, but it's stupid. Saban and Meyer aren't lauded for their big game mastery, they are just considered great coaches. It's some bullshit perpetuated by the fact Petersen coached at Boise State and won some big games. Urban Meyer did that and would have continued to that if he stayed at Utah. It's not really any different.

UW is a possible new power program. We blew out the other team in 10 of 13 games. Plungered them. Alabama is Goliath but we aren't fucking David.

If we win, it's not because Petersen recruited and developed the players into a top flight unit. Maybe by an off chance we win on some trick play or a fake punt or FG, but the reason we will be in the game is because we played a sound game. The media sucks with their bullshit stories they create.
This is all you really needed to say.
    Hurtful

Teams rarely go undefeated. That game wasn't a well coached game imo, but I bet Ohio State fans feel that way any time they lose. Alabama too.

Saban has one undefeated season in his career. Urban Meyer has two, one with Utah and one with Ohio State barred from post season play. Pete Carroll had one.

Everyone loses sometimes. The whole season was on the line the last two games and we destroyed the opponent. Those were just as big, if not bigger games than USC.
The point is not about losing a game. It is about losing a big game. If Peterson were a big game coach we would have beat USC.

Your point makes very little sense. Some would say no sense at all.

So outside of Gil Dobie, there has never been a big game coach in the history of college football?

What makes Gil Dobie a big game coach? I know he never lost but what big games did he even coach? My point echos roaddawg's about how good coaches just win games because they are good coaches. You look at the best bowl records of all time and you see those coaches were always putting together good seasons.

If Petersen was some big game specialist we would have beaten USC. We didn't because he is not a big game specialist. He is just a good coach who wins most of his games but occasionally loses... not sure how my statements have been confusing....

The contention of the article is Petersen win games with less talent after a long layover. We played USC with a normal week.
